Joey smith
I have an opportunity to buy this hammer what should i offer? I may have offended him with the 20 dollar original offer! Being new to this my etiquette may not be up to snuff. Its in Massachusetts
ThomasPowers
I buy neat hand made hammers on a fairly regular basis down here for US$5. If you are buying it for using then I consider $20 high. If he's selling to antique tool collectors, move on...

ThomasPowers
Hey; I once paid US$35 for a hammer---it was one from the lynch collection and was the Sledge sized version of my favorite forging hammer and I had the money and made the deal (now some of the smaller ones are going for about twice that so I have little buyers remorse.) Can you get out to Quad-State this fall? Hammers by the ton! Generally not cheap; but not collectible priced either. I try to sell a bucket of ballpeens for $2-3 a hammer when I go. ThomasPowers
I hope to get there this year too; it's a 1500 mile drive each way; but luckily we have kids and grandkids halfway and 1.1 way to it...I liked to camp out on-site and save the money for more tools; but my wife is getting less happy about that since she's over 70 now. I’ve already made my reservation!
