Greyfolk
This was my grandfather's anvil. I don't know anything about it. The only markings I find are on the side, and it's mostly worn off except the word "solid". If you could help me identify it, I would be grateful. Thanks. ThomasPowers
Knowing what country it's in would help narrow the pool of possibilities> Is it weight stamped in CWT? There should be 3 or 4 numbers stamped in the side near the waist. If you can make them out and then compare with the weight of the anvil (Bathroom scale...) if they are close it's an american anvil and if it's off then it's probably made in England. Greyfolk
Can we guess as to how old it is? It was on the farm (New Jersey, US) all of my life. I can't find any other markings on it.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
If you take a wire wheel to the side (No Grinding) the name may become more clear. The solid should be followed by wrought if I recall. BTW if you will edit your profile to show your location it will help us with some answers as Thomas said and we won't remember you are in NJ after we leave this thread. ThomasPowers
You might see the crossed "hot dogs" that I'm betting BF was basing his ID on. (From the Queen's Cross Dudley stamp IIRC)
