Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this bulletin board.

Our websites use cookies to distinguish you from other users of our website. This helps us to provide you with a personalised experience when you browse this site. For detailed information on the cookies we use and the purposes for which we use them see our cookie policy (link at the footer of each page).

The Blacksmith Forum is a family site. The standards are set high. You are expected to conduct yourselves as gentlemen and ladies. Your posts are to be civil, polite, and respectful of others and their opinions. There are to be no "bad words", no personal attacks, and it should be able to be read from the front of the church on Sunday with no one being embarrassed.

The site is a way to exchange information. You may question or comment as you wish within these guide lines. Additional guide lines may be added as needed, and additions made to the rules of registration, and any disclaimers as needed.

I charge each of you with assisting me in keeping the site a family site, a clean site, and operating within the guidelines set forth. I do not expect any problems, but if they were to occur, please contact me directly with your concerns.

If you were invited into someone's home, or someone's business, would you be expected to conduct yourselves as gentlemen and ladies, to be civil, polite, and respectful of others and their opinions, and to not attack anyone personally?

This is YOUR home, and YOUR place for learning. If you answered yes to the question above, then it is how you expect others to conduct themselves already. It is only a rule if the expectations must be addressed and or enforced.

Everyone is invited to join us. Please make suggestions as how we can improved the site and make it better. Participate and make it YOUR home, YOUR place for learning.

Photos in the IForgeIron Gallery and on the IFI site

http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/posting-images-iforgeiron-3359/'>Posting images
It has always been IForgeIron policy NOT to use any copyrighted image or material on the site without permission of the owner of that image or material. Please be sure you are the owner of any image or material you post to IForgeIron. Please report any image or material that you feel is questionable as to ownership, so it can either be removed or permission obtained for its use. Thank you for your cooperation.

For years the blacksmithing community has always been about sharing information. Posting a link to another site to provide an answer to a question has always been the standard practice. At this time, I see nothing wrong with posting a link to an photo, or to an article, as the photo or article is on that site, not on IForgeIron.

The problem with linking is that site may delete the photo or material at any time, leaving a broken link, or dead end. Keen Junk was around long before Anvilfire, and when it went off line, all world wide links were broken as the site was removed from the internet. I still see references and know they no longer work as the site does not exist.

If you take a photo, make a drawing, or explain the process, etc., it is your original material that you are providing and it therefore becomes a part of the IForgeIron site. If another site deletes information or goes off line, the information is still available.

Posting photos in the gallery and forum
By posting a photo in the IForgeIron Gallery, the gallery automatically resizes the image to forum dimensions, and created a linked thumbnail to the image. This linked thumbnail is then added to the post in the forum. It also stores the full size image that is accessible by clicking on the image in the gallery. All this is stored on site so if the photos are deleted or removed from a remote location, it does not get deleted from the site and the information resource is not compromised.

..Linking to other sites
Please use caution when linking "off site" to other web sites, you-tube, etc.

Any site link posted to IForgeIron WILL be expected to follow the IForgeIron guide lines. Please review the material you are linking to, and be sure it is blacksmithing or metalworking related, and in accordance with the IFI site guide lines.

---------------------------

IForgeIron has high standards. We strive to create a site where everyone is welcome, and to create a comfortable place to learn about blacksmithing and metalworking of all types. If your read this and are not a member of the site already, join us. Go to IForgeIron.com and under the box where you enter your name and password, click on "create one". It is just that easy.

Revised 9 - 2016

First off refer to the first post in this thread.

The basic guidelines for the site have always been no fussing, no cussing, no threats, no personal attacks, and please stay away from discussing religion and politics, or discussion of illegal activities or items. We are adding to stay away from the discussion of illegal activities. What is illegal in one location may not be illegal in another location so this is a judgement call by the moderators, admins, site owners, etc.

Any event performed by a moderator is automatically reported to all moderators, all admins, and the site owners. This insures that all events are reviewed and given due consideration. The admins or site owners decision is final.

Be aware we do not exist so people can advertise other web sites. We do allow your URL in the signature line, but it is just plane rude to come here to poach people for other sites.

If you create drama over a regulation, do not be surprised if you find yourself in the dog house over it. If you wish you may contact the owner and discuss it in private.

Offending posts are hidden from public view when discovered, not deleted. Usually this happens before too many people see them.  Causing a ruckus without having all the facts has gotten more then one person in deep.

We need to add a couple of items to the Terms of Service.

Please be polite and  respectful in your comments and your actions.

Please do not be argumentative or abrasive in your comments, or toward other members.  Attacks on staff will be dealt with severely .

If you are found to be blocking a Mod or Admin your account may be closed.

These new additions to the TOS will help keep IForgeIron a G rated, family forum, and a comfortable place to learn about blacksmithing, metalworking, and the craft. Moderators and members should report any questionable posts to the Administrators so they can review the issue.
