Ideas <split from another thread>

Good day to all, I have a question.

I was thinking of ways to use a modern twist on the conventional coal forge.

What are your thoughts on using propane burners as the heat source but using cadac ceramic briquettes as a replacement for the coal in a coal forge ?

Would this work ?

This has been discussed a few times; search the forum for "ceramic chip forges".

(Hint: the search function of the forum software isn't very good. Better results can be achieved by using the search engine of your choice and including "iforgeiron.com" as one of your search terms.)

Better rocks in your forge than in your head. I've used rocks as a grate in field expedient forges. I'd go side blast now though.

My recent experiences with the NARB makes me think a NA burner can be made to run a chip forge. Hmmmmmm.
