It is also an advantage to be able to do so quickly and with confidence, due to the very fluid nature of the craft. In this class, we will start with simple techniques and building on the skills acquired, proceed to the more complex shapes. Will will forge a center punch, cold chisels, a screwdriver, a pry bar, a hammer head, and blacksmith’s tongs. We will also learn how to heat-treat our tools, how to identify the various tool steels, and how to use recycled items in tool-making. Throughout the class, we will practice Hofi’s ergonomic forging technique. All the tools made are yours to take home. No previous experience required. The class is limited to 9 students. Class fee is $360, inclusive of all the materials and safety equipment. To reserve a spot, please send a $150 deposit to: Arnon Kartmazov, 212 SE 79th ave, Portland, OR, 97215. The remainder of the class fee is due on first day of class. Class notification will be sent to those who sign up.
