CrazyGoatLady
Just a note to ask about keeping our neighbors in southeast Texas in our hearts and prayers. Thank you
Frosty
Everybody in a hurricane's path is on the list here. I'm thankful it isn't as bad as it could've been. Water's still rising but it looks like the worst is past. Still a BIG storm stuck in one spot though. Prayers and best wishes to all in harms way. Frosty The Lucky. SLAG
Marg & I, Have added all those effected (afflicted), by hurricane Harvey to our list of prayers and intentions. Hang in there. Things will improve soon. SLAG.
Mark Ling
You beat me to it Mrs. Hockett! We are fine, got buckets around the house for our leaky roof, pond is overflowing. So far we have gotten 20-3/4" of rain. We live on a hill so flooding ain't much of a worry for us thankfully. Praying for others not as fortunate. ThomasPowers
I flew out of Austin Friday afternoon---but they kept bumping our departure time; I was beginning to wonder if they wanted us to be there for the storm... You know I keep hearing to stock up on food and water but nobody ever mentions WD40!
C-1ToolSteel
I have relatives in Huston that were stranded for a while with water in their houses, but they are out and safe now. Yes, we absolutely need to keep everyone over there in our prayers.
JHCC
My brother and his wife are safe for now. My father's nursing home in Victoria was evacuated to near San Antonio a few days ago, so he's fine as well.
CrazyGoatLady
littleblacksmith I wondered about you. I wasn't sure if you and yours were in the line of fire or not. Glad to hear y'all are ok. Wow, that is a lot of rain. Be safe. ThomasPowers You made it out in the nick of time! Glad you are ok! You can never have enough WD40... C-1Tool Steel Thankful your kinfolks are safe! What a great blessing. JHCC I wondered about nursing homes and hospitals. How they handle that. So glad your folks are ok! We are close to the Oklahoma border. We have sunny skies here. Seems odd that the weather is so horrible in another part of my state. We also need to pray for Louisiana as it hitting them now as well.

ThomasPowers
There is a lot of stuff you can save after immersion by a good squirt of WD40---what it was designed for! Water Displacement 40th Formula tested Note there are also things it will destroy so check before going wild!
CrazyGoatLady
Agree on all the above...and right on about the duct tape. The world would probably quit revolving without it! I use it on a VERY regular basis
ausfire
We are on the other side of the world but our thoughts are with the folks in the path of Harvey. We know all about hurricanes (cyclones here) in my patch of Queensland. Yasi and more recently Debbie gave us quite a touch up. You just have to hang in there and remember it will end and the sun will shine again.
ausfire
And now you have Irma to contend with. Good luck to all in Florida. Keep safe.

Frosty
Thoughts and prayers to all in harms way. Looks like Irma is losing steam fast but I don't predict weather. I'll take a guess at season but you have to get a few beers in me first. Hunker down folks. Be relieved the newsies are still standing out in the wind for the cameras so it isn't as bad as was feared. Frosty The Lucky.
CrazyGoatLady
Thankful to God it wasn't near the monster it was predicted to be. Maybe it was just me, but some of those reporters sounded disappointed it didn't turn out the way they thought it would....
Frosty
Naw, it wasn't just you, after all the build up the talking heads were jonesing for some flying trees, buildings blowing apart, etc. One of the NBC gals, just a little thing was out walking around in the wind pointing at trees flapping and how the water was going to be filling the street any time. I loved the shot where a reporter was shouting over the wind about how dangerous it was going to get when two guys rode past on bicycles. Oh they were idiots no doubt but if it was as unbelievably windy as the reporter said it was nobody could have been riding a bike. I'm seriously happy the newsies have to exaggerate the badness for a story. I hope their ratings continue to suffer from a less than horrible hurricane. Frosty The Lucky. arkie
I saw a cartoon the other day where a small kid was standing under the shower with a microphone. His Mom was asking him what in the world was he doing?? "Practicing to be a news reporter" was his reply.......
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
My MIL lives in Hialeah FL (Miami Metro area) and refused to go to a shelter or evacuate. She is 88 and as stubborn as a Missouri mule. She has been through many hurricanes in the 50 odd years she has lived in her home, which was built to much better standards and materials than are built today. We were really worried until the path of the storm moved west. She sustained no damage or flooding and came through with her typical can do attitude. She always has emergency supplies on hand and the only thing that inconvenienced her was the loss of electricity & phone for a day. God bless stubborn old women. SLAG
Mr. Dragon, Good news. Your mother in law is one heck of a lady. I AM impressed. She's my kind of gal. (fear not, I am already married, to the only lady who would have me. And she's really been had!). Bully for your mother in law. Please send her my good wishes and regards. SLAG. I really do not care for the very bright green color, it does not go with my extensive ward robe and ensemble. Read this quickly, the Mods are on the way! CrazyGoatLady
Irondragon I am pleased to hear your Mother-in-law rode the storm well! I have wondered if I were in the same situation, would I leave. My inclination would be to stay. But our biggest threat here is tornadoes. We had a tree break off and landed through the back of our house one time. It wasn't even a tornado, just straight line winds. It's made me a little more leary of high winded weather ever since then. But again, I am thankful to God for her safety!
