Another newbie to this site and to blacksmithing and bladesmithing I'm from Albury New South Wales Australia

Have been trolling over tons of good info on here and in the planning stages for a forge and burner. I really like the NARB but trying to find the equialent materail in Australia is xxxx hard.Even more living in a rural region nearly everything has a shipping cost which nearly cost more than the product . But nearly found all the products that should work hopefully hahaha.

Thanks Guys for the warm welcome.

I have source all the refractory seeing what close to what Frosty and Wayne used as I can get it here in Australia. Wil be doing a lot of testing to find the right burn nozzles and if the refractory will hold up even though found a glazing that should help as well a lot of that work  has been done for me thanks to Frosty.

Welcome Roadkyll. Good to have another Australian on board. Mate, I know what you're saying about  freight costs in rural areas. And of course the further north you go the worse it gets.

Welcome aboard Roadkyll, glad to have you. The cost of shipping kills us too, just about doubles the price. Nothing compared to what you suffer but it still stinks.

I haven't actually written up a set of plans for a naturally aspirated multiple outlet burner yet. I'm still figuring out how to make the things, what I did works but there has to be a better way.

We'll need to work out our terms so we know what the other guy is saying but that's easy enough. For instance when you say glaze I hit a stopping point, here a glaze is something that melts at a relatively low temperature and adheres to the material being glazed. Glaze on pottery is the best known but enamel on the bath tub, sink, etc. or on jewelry is a glaze. I seriously doubt it would do anything but deteriorate the refractory liner in a forge.

Different terminologies to work out. Make sense?

You do have plumbing suppliers don't you? Every one I've ever been in will cut and thread pipe to your specifications for a couple dollars. Big box stores, like Wall Mart, Sears, etc. sell very limited selection of real hardware supplies and you aren't going to find what you need there. Some of the fitting I like aren't common.

I'll be more than happy to work with you putting one together. The process is pretty straight forward but I've come up with a couple tricks that make it easier.

Yeah definitely I know that before coming back down live in Cairns for 15 years it's like triple the freight and cheers for the welcome.

Thanks Frosty for the warm welcome.

A couple of points 1 is you that used Zircopax in the refractory for the ribbon burner to strengthen it in Australia that comes under a glaze classification the Kast-O-Lite can't find it .By reading through Material Safety Data Sheets and found a similar one

The plumbing supplies here don't really carry black pipe most are made from galvanized and it's not that common either, plastic, copper and brass are but yesterday did find a 1 and 1/2 nipple in gal so going to try and use vinegar to remove unkown if it works.

Managed to source nearly everything now from a sprinkler fitters yesterday believe or not as we get some of our other parts from them for the propane fire trainers which we make for ourselves.

Our local store like Walmart or Sears is Bunnings and they have less Wall mart when I was in the States a few years going into them was like letting a kid into a candy store haha we have nothing like that here.

Sorry writing isn't one of my strong points and explaining probably doesn't come through clearly enough but I do research everything throughly before moving forward so hopefully that explains it a little better.

To the Moderator sorry I didn't consider that word as a profanity word

Darn, you're right zircopax is listed as a glaze additive, I'd forgotten, my mistake.

Kastolite is preferred by recent consensus but hardly the only appropriate product. Availability outside the USA isn't something I know about. Well, sort of there are still companies in the lower 48 states that think Alaska is a different country, the others think we're outside the "continental" US. Doesn't make much difference they want to double shipping.

No worries, you're plenty understandable we'll just have to ask each other for clarification now and then. Easy peasy.

We'll work everything out, no sweat. Give me a shout if you have questions.

Good to know, it might be fun to plant a couple annoying seeds for the fun of it. :P

Like puns, know any good jokes? Oh wait, we speak different versions of English, puns would be problematic. Forget the puns.

You can  plant what want doesn't mean the seed going to germinate coz sometimes nothing grows in there :o

And thank you for the offer for advice and help mate hopefully I don't ask too many dumb questions hahaha

A challenge! I know stuff that'll grow anywhere.

Ooooh, ANOTHER challenge! I get to look for dumbness in the questions a guy who researches things before he asks eh?  So what do you count as too many?

Thanks for what you do. I owe my life to the local EMS they are quick and good, I was a serious mess, flat lined a couple times on the helicopter ride to the hospital. I was cutting wood and the tree got me.

Yeah Frosty I do research everything and I try to get it close to perfect as I can

Glad to hear that your well and made it through one of the lucky ones. Done 8 resuscitation got 4 back, lost 4.

The EMS here as everywhere else around the world are under paid and over worked for what they have to do.I have to so many hours out in placement with them and what they are sometimes confronted with you think what is going on with people.

Charles if you make it over this way you would have drop in for a beer.
