Bryan Absher
Has anyone converted a Beaudry Champion hammer to air? any pics?
CMS3900
What do you mean by convert it to air? Use a air motor to drive it or remove the eccentric system that's on it and replace it with a air cylinder? Beaudry's are pretty bomb proof and more or less considered the gold standard along with Bradley when it comes to mechanical hammers. Bryan Absher
Air cylinder to run the hammer movable top die, I have 2 air hammers and three mechanical hammers, I was wondering if anyone had done this.
CMS3900
Not that I know of. It would be less efficient then the hammer in stock form unless you threw a bunch of money at it - way more money than it would cost to make or find parts to put it back in stock working order. How big of Beaudry are you talking about? Is something currently broke in it?
ThomasPowers
I've heard of a fellow buying up old mechanical hammers and converting them to air down this way; but I have never met him in person. Have you looked up the kinyon hammers?
Bob Brandl
Don't do it.
