thoughts on this Fisher Anvil

any thoughts on this Fisher Anvil ?? is it delaminating ?? or just casting marks ?? thanks, JT

Looks like it was beat hard enough to break out the cast iron underneath the faceplate. 

275# is a good size though. My main anvil is a 260# Fisher.

I'm sure Josh will be along soon enough but if it were delaminating I believe it would be a first.  Fishers just don't do that to best of my knowledge. 

Hard to tell from photo but I tend to doubt it.

This anvil has been on EBXX for several months.  To me, it looks like a nice garden decoration.  Yes, those look like cracks under the faceplate, and also about an inch down on that jagged line.  That missing iron under the faceplate is troubling.  A good hammer blow could bend/crack/displace a piece of the plate.  I think this anvil has had problems for a long time; it probably should never have been sold.

Do you mean the hardy hole?  It doesn't have a hardy in it at this moment.

To me it looks like a failed casting and as Josh mentions it should have never made it out the door.  I suspect foul play as it was never sent in under the warranty either.  What's the date on it?
