Tubalcain2
sorry messes. i don't think the top one is damaged , its just a rare, valuable, step-faced anvil.
ThomasPowers
Neither one is a tenth the anvil my US$40 missing heel Powell is! It at least has a thick hard *face* over the sweet spot!
JT
I don't get it !! ... these people must not even look around !!
ThomasPowers
No they are hoping to *find* someone who is not looking around. Caveat Emptor!
Jackdawg
It's coyote's, they dont need them in all that good a condition for what they use them for......

Will W.
That second one has a strange look to it. I can't place my finger on it. Maybe it's how the heel and horn come in at such a straight angle rather than a curve...? What kind of anvil is that?
Tubalcain2
i would say vulcan or badger.
ThomasPowers
I was guessing Vulcan too and as such not worth trying to repair it.
Will W.
Interesting. That poor pritchel hole looks more like a hardie hole now haha.
C-1ToolSteel
I'd just as soon let the people looking for a "decor" anvil scratch their itch, and leave the real ones for us.

I don't think these people have a clue !! at this particular auction anything that has the word "blacksmith" in the description sells like hot cakes and high dollar in my opinion from beat up swage blocks to tongs & hammers and even broken leg vises missing parts.. those first two anvils I posted in my last post were both bought by the same buyer !! C-1ToolSteel
People like that are usually better off learning the hard way...
Will W.
Decor anvil... I am unfamiliar with this term. Is that the anvil that you forge on in the dining room? Personally, I prefer to forge in the kitchen. Better ventilation, ya know?
C-1ToolSteel
Decor anvil: A London pattern anvil purchased for the satisfaction of the owner conversing with every smith that passes by and explaining that he plans to let it sit and rust by his/her flower bed. ThomasPowers
No, No; spray painted black *over* the rust and set beside the fireplace...
C-1ToolSteel
Next thing you know, it will be IN the fireplace!
