humphreymachine
I looked at a fairly large Hay Budden today which was in nice shape except for the fact that the area where the weight is normally stamped is messed up with many many center punch type marks. I thought I had seen a table showing dimensions for various weight H B anvils but if I had I can't find it again. It is 32 1/2 inches long - 5 1/8 x 19 1/4 face - 12 1/4 high - 1 1/4 hardie. I'm guessing around 275 pounds. Any thoughts???
Fatfudd
Good estimate- My 288lb Hay Budden is 33in long.
Black Frog
HB gave out some guidelines of size for weights at some times in their manufacturing history. Problem is that they changed their manufacturing methods, and their anvils varied. I've been keeping a database of anvil dimensions vs weight for the major anvil manufactures for some time now. It comes in incredibly handy. You can have anvils that are 3" to 4" different in length and be the same weight..... The guesses above seem to be right in the ballpark. humphreymachine
Thank you. The face measures the same as my 300 pound Fisher and it is two inches longer but the Fisher has a proportionally larger base.
