Beth and Pam
Can anyone please help identify this drill press? Is there value?
Frosty
There should be information cast proud on the main frame, take pics of both sides from close enough to read the info. Even if it's not complete there may be enough for one of the gang to recognize it. Is there a feed lever on the far side? You can see where the hand crank fits on this side. There was a period where hand crank drills were fitted with flywheels with belt grooves. Nice drill. Frosty The Lucky.
Beth and Pam
Thank you for replying! I will get more photos. Pamela is a wood sculptor who wants to integrate some steel, metal into her work. We didn't know if her father's old drill could be used or worth trying to get it going.
phabib
These aren't so rare that you'd be throwing out something valuable if you used in another project.
Frosty
Lube it up and see how it works, it looks mostly all there and it's your Grandfathers. They aren't really very rare though, I see them occasionally here in the vast blacksmith tool desert of Alaska. I'm sure they're a lot more common where ever you live and incomplete post drills aren't near as expensive to pick up as complete working ones. They don't need to work to be incorporated in art do they? Frosty The Lucky.
