Frosty
Heh, heh, heh, You're doing a lot right Randell. People who don't make mistakes aren't doing anything worth not talking about. You're doing fine, you have ideas, you try them out, recognize when things don't work right, analyze the problem and try to resolve it. You ask other people's opinions while you follow THE steps to resolve problems. It doesn't get any more right than that Brother. No bull. The steps for failure analysis go like this. Recognize a problem, Identify The problem, analyze the problem, tinker till it's not a problem. There are issues that can interfere at any step. If a person is incapable of admitting failure it's virtually impossible to learn from and solve problems. They can't learn from mistakes. In many cases you may see something's wrong but not what. You get someone to tell you what's wrong but maybe don't know enough about the: process, materials, tools, etc. to figure out what caused it. Or maybe lack the logic or critical thinking skills necessary to put the pieces together. Lastly don't know how to experiment, tinker, in a logical manner. These are skills based on numerous other skills and it's a learned craft, called "Trouble shooting." The #1 rule of trouble shooting is. "CHANGE ONE THING AT A TIME AND TEST." Take and keep notes. The same technique can be applied to any step of failure analysis. You might not even know something is wrong till you trouble shoot an apparently trouble free system. You get a lot right Randell, it's just a little early in the learning curve to see how much you're improving. You do something, ask opinions and questions, pay attention and try again differently and ask again. That's speed roping the learning curve. Give it a couple years and people will be taking lessons from you. Frosty The Lucky.
