My vises

Recommended Posts

Here are my two vises. Both were in rough shape and rusted solid and froze up.

I paid $40 for each one. They were purchased at different times.

Both work like new now.

First is a 6" Quickwerk  Warren tool co.

Second is an 4 1/2" Arthur O'neal  with pipe jaws.FullSizeRender.thumb.jpg.114716907694373FullSizeRender.thumb.jpg.11471690769437356a99cdb40af7_FullSizeRender(1).thumb.jpIMG_3309.thumb.JPG.9356e8835db5fce1b16cbIMG_3320.thumb.JPG.3623b995b401bbc6be420IMG_3321.thumb.JPG.5c0b659c3edf59d61ea19IMG_3324.thumb.JPG.d43873ecda79fe1218cc8IMG_3328.thumb.JPG.61216168c5d6fc3e63f03

My computer skills are lacking.

This is the mounting plate on the O'neal

Great purchases at $40. each. Even if you had to put in some elbow grease.

Wonder if Columbian made that one for O'Leary---the plain legs, short open screwbox end and simple U bolt mounting bracket are all in the Columbian style.

Anyone have any info on if O'Leary was a manufacturer or a distributor?

Indeed they did, now Commercial Forged Products. Mine has the similar angled fixed jaw/post. One forging, not welded, not bent; note mounting plate and pivot bolster are parallel. 44" jaw height, 50 lbs. (Also has the removable jaws) Yes, this setup looks unstable and seems too tall. I have heavier vises, this gets used all the time because it's handy. I had intentions of attaching all sorts of stuff until I started using it...                                                                                                                               Did O'Leary make the Columbian?

Does yours still have the pipe jaws?

Yes, it does. And the deeply serrated main jaws purists dislike. Our local weldor looked at the image and after I told him 44" height exclaimed "plumber's junk!".
