One smith describing seeing anither smith demontrating forge welding using the wooden handle of his hammer to start the weld. But when he got an order to make a 13' chain, he said it was now or never. so by the end of the chain, he was confident that he could weld. sorry about the M.S. paint, but here's what he told me. Quarry Dog Posted July 12, 2015 Share Posted July 12, 2015 I would be worried about that scarf not welding on the sheer plain. I go by the scarf on page 22 of "Farm Blacksmithing" by J.M.
