Glenn
You posted 3 days ago. People will respond when they have time or information. The Mississippi Forge Council (MFC) typically meets on the third Saturday of each month (EXCEPT when special events are scheduled) at the Agricultural and Forestry Museum on Lakeland Dr (Hwy 25) in Jackson MS. The meetings start at 9:00 A.M. with a very short business meeting, then a demonstration on selected techniques. If you have any questions about the meeting dates or time feel free to contact any of the board members for info. Their phone numbers and emails addresses are listed in the “Contact Us” tab. When you contacted them, what did they say? Did they invite you to a meeting? After the demo, members can get into the forges with the demonstrator and practice what they saw. At that time we also may have a beginner’s class (green coal class) that introduces the absolute basics of blacksmithing to beginners. The green coal class can last from a few minutes up to 3 hours and is free. The beginner doesn’t have to feel obligated to stay the whole time. You don’t have to be a member of the MFC to participate in the green coal class.Sounds like an invite to me.Did you look at their archive material that is on line from January 2011 to June 2015? Did you find any of the information helpful?Did you look at their archive newsletters from May 2007 to January 2011? Was any of it useful? This will give you an idea of the Mississippi Forge Council (MFC), who to contact, and they kind of information you can gain from going to the meetings.
