I Forge Iron

Newbie from British Columbia, Canada

Recommended Posts

Well, hello to everyone- Names Corey, and I hope to start blacksmithing soon- this site has been invaluable in constructing my brake drum forge and my (soon-to-be) bellows, so I decided I might as well sign up and at least introduce myself.

I'm from the Lower Mainland in British Columbia, Canada, and if anyone knows any good places out here to get resources, or wouldn't mind helping me learn the basic, id love to know- right now I've read through The Complete Modern Blacksmith by Weygers, I managed to locate a small anvil from an auto repair shop, a cross pein hammer I bought new from Rona.

Good Morning,

We had three fellows from your Island visiting the shop for our Monthly Meeting today. Vancouver Island Blacksmith Association. check out www.viblacksmiths.com

There will be a NWBA Spring Conference in Longview Wash, May 15-17. See www.blacksmith.org. There always is Tailgate Sales (new and used Tools and Equipment). Midnight madness is open forges, after supper, last one out turns off the lights. There also will be some fine Demonstrators. Classes too.

There are a bunch of people in the area you live, they just don't know how to get together. Talk to Gerrard, the Farrier Instructor at Kwantlen College, Cloverdale.

The resources on your side of the pond are HUGE.
