ThomasPowers
Even on other anvils they often come in "gracile" and "robustus" configurations depending on makers/age/style.
njanvilman
I just posted the answer on the other posting about this anvil. The easy answer is: Ask someone who has an identical one. I weighed mine and the answer is 196 lb. No math, no displacement, no hauling, no made up words, no twin scales, no buying books. I posted the dimensions of mine so he can check that we are talking about identical anvils. One of his photos shows the anvil with a 12" ruler for the height, which is 13" on both. He can check if the rest of the measurement match.
Black Frog
The easy answer is: Ask someone who has an identical one. Exactly why I suggested he take measurements for you right away. I figured if it is a Fisher anvil, you probably have an identical one laying around from the same mold pattern... :)
HWooldridge
Surprised nobody has suggested using a fish/game scale. Amazon sells one rated at 440 lbs for less than 50 bucks. Could probably find a cheaper deal by shopping around.

Could probably find a cheaper deal by shopping around. But he would still have the original problem of lifting it, as he posted in post #1. I believe for this thread, any more comments are moot. He already has his answer.
nicole
Nicole For a minute there I thought you had a recipe for Anvil Stew. Thought after the add Salt and Favorite Spices there would be "cook until tender!"If you cook it it looses some iron content!
notownkid
AH I was told by a Doc. yesterday I have too much Iron so maybe I'd better cook it an extra week or so. Dale
