GottMitUns
Any idea what this is for and how it is used? thanks Russell
Frosty
That's a wafer iron. Think really thin waffle, rolled for ice cream cones. Clean it and season it like cast iron cookware and it'll be a HOOT around the campfire. Absolute killer one of a kind smores, every girl scout in the state will be lined up at your fire. Wafer recipes should succumb to a simple web search. Nice score. Frosty The Lucky.
ThomasPowers
What he said! I associate them more with the Germanic settlers here in the USA; but they were common in Europe at one time.take a look here for examples and how they were used: http://www.historicfood.com/Wafer.htm
Nobody Special
Failing that, it'd be dandy for warming tortillas....making quesadillas........mmmmm.....quesadillas...
arftist
Krumkake iron. Used as mentioned, that one is an antique. After cooking from both sides the still hot "kake" is wrapped around a tapered wood pin to form a cone. The filling is usually sweetened whip cream. GottMitUns
I love this forum!! I'm going to see if its still there in the morning and buy it, just to try it out. If nothing else it will make a fine open fire tortilla warmer! Thanks guys! RWD
Frosty
Hey GLENN you reading this one? Right answer in 1:31! Maybe not a record but not bad for a week day. Smart Alec remark was a quicker reply of course but that's my area of expertise, I just happened to know what a wafer iron is. Don't just warm tortillas in it, they need a little toasting after being pressed, this is a tortilla press and toast gizmo if ever there was one. Frosty The Lucky.
