Bronze age spearhead and arrowheads

Recommended Posts

These are the oldest man-made items I own.  These are bronze age tips.  They were given to me by a friend of my father who dealt with museum antiquities.  I have cherished them for the past 50 years.  I do not know the provenance of them, or exactly how old they are.  But they are many thousands of years old.  I appreciate that thousands of years after they were made, we can admire the workmanship given the tools and technology of the time.  And that because they were made of bronze, they did not rust away.

Researching the dates accepted by historians for the Bronze Age would put the age of these items between three and five thousand years.

I do not think there is any aluminum in this bronze.  Probably mostly copper, with some tin.  Until the eighteen century aluminum was very rare and hard to process.

I am impressed with how well they help up for several thousands of years.

No suggesting it was, lol just that Id like to try duplicating them in alluminum bronze. I aggre that it is impressive, not only that they have survived, but that they havent been recycled as well. Again, thank you for sharing them.
