Hondo77
I have been drawn to smithing for years. I'm here for about 4 months and want to get started but I don't even know where to begin. I have made a few war hammers with grinders, welders and a drill press but I believe I have the gift if only I can try somewhere
ThomasPowers
Las Vegas New Mexico? I get up that way every once in a while.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
If you are talking Las Vegas Nevada there are a couple of other smiths besides myself on here. You are not alone in the newbie department. Search for Las Vegas in the forums. There is a thread with the others on it. Tim McCoy has stopped , Zanshin aka Francesco has moved to the Bay Area, and Grem has also moved. I am out in Moapa Valley, but get into the Big City on the weekends. To get started all you need is a heat source, something to pound on, and a hammer. Propane,or charcoal is probably the best bet for in town. Coal can be pretty smokey. What you need to determine is what do you want to make, as that will help size the forge, and anvil you will need. I'll shoot you my number in a PM, and we can talk it over.
