Blade smithing in the UK

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

 

Anyway, I've recently got into medieval sword fighting, and have become hooked on sword and edged weapons. After looking on the web for sword smithing apprenticeship, I can't find any. Apart from one in Scotland but that was a couple months back unfortunately. I don't actually have any experience in black smithing in general so I probably seem rather arrogant, which I'm not, I just love swords and knives.

Does anybody know of any blade smith apprenticeships in the UK?

So how much are you looking to pay for this apprenticeship?  Over on this side of the pond we've had long discussions and came up with for every hour of 1 on 1 instruction by an expert there should be about 10 hours of "grunt labour" and most small shops don't have enough grunt labour available to trade.

I was thinking of starting in June, I'd probably get the equipment myself.

if you're looking for classes to learn swordsmithing then your best bet would be to give Owen Bush a call. He runs courses making them from his forge on London ;)
