Dogsoldat
Been saving since last year and the Taxman was good to me again. Would really love a Refflinghaus, or Fontanini. Either one would be super sweet. Anyways, Don't really know where to begin on what shipping might be to get them into British Columbia, Canada. What if any tariffs or taxes coming across the border. Any one have any recent experiences or relevant info I can chew on. Just keeping my fingers crossed that household stuff doesn't try to steal my money... sparkymacker
Hi Dogsoldat, I have been looking at getting one from south of the border as well. Shipping it to Canada is cost prohibitive, what I do is have anything heavy shipped to Orville and I pick it up there. Betta's and Ship Happens are freight receivers and they only charge a nominal fee. A lot of things have free shipping within the US, I bought a Kurt vise from Emco and had it shipped to Orville at no cost. If you just go down and bring it back you will have to pay the GST at the border. Ridgid tools markets the Peddinghaus so it is possible you could get it from someone like Grainger and have it shipped to Orville. Next time I go down for a holiday I am going to look at bringing something back, you get a $800 exemption for more than 48 hours. Hope that helps! Dogsoldat
That helps quite a bit. Guessing I'm going to have to get a passport in order. :)
sparkymacker
Yes, unfortunately a passport it the key! We have a passport office in Kelowna, saves quite a bit of time if you come over here and do the paperwork.
Dogsoldat
Which way does everyone prefer there upsetting blocks ? near side far side? On the Fontanini its opposite the shelf. On the Renato and Refflinghaus anvils its same side as the shelf. Really love the looks of the Fontanini, but Renatos only a few hours away. oh the angst :)
