Everything Mac
I honestly don't know if the oxford will do it. Will just have to wait and see when I get back ashore. It's not exactly the end of the world.
Everything Mac
Just a little update on this - the welder wouldn't weld the rods I had. It kept tripping the switch and blew a fuse. I'll be sourcing some different rods shortly. Cheers Andy
the iron dwarf
to use most 7018 you need a welder with a DC output, a few 7018 can be used on ac. if you were closer to me I would say bring it round and use mine
Everything Mac
Yup, a real pain as I now have a 5kg pack that's near useless to me. Cheers Iron Dwarf, all the best mate Andy
Hillbillysmith
Preheat both pieces high enough to drive off the moisture (minimum) since the "mild" steel piece is unknown and the RR track is a high manganese steel. Weld with 7018/8018/9018 etc. Put in dry sand or wrap in a fiberglass weld blanket overnight. -Hillbilly
