Retodd73
i have insulated my 10" ss pipe forge with 1/4" thick insulation leftover from a boiler job. i dont really know what it is. anyone know if it could be kaowool sheet? i put a rosebud to it,and it glowed orange but didnt melt.i rolled it to a 2" wall thickness and slid it into my pipe. i have not put my satanite on yet for fear of wasting it on junk insulation. how do i figure out what i have? jmccustomknives
More than likely it's Kaowool being 1/4" thick is kind of strange though.

Judson Yaggy
Can you request the MSDS on the insulation? That will tell you who made it and perhaps what it is (a starting point for further research). The reaction to your request will also tell you something about your employer… as I understand the laws someone somewhere on site should have a copy of the MSDS and it's your right to see the safety sheet. Might be opening a can of worms thou, so good luck.
