Glenn
Is that designed for coal or wood as fuel? Can you show construction details on the uprights attachment please? What is the ground clearance from bottom of the grate to hearth?
Chuck Fraser
It is designed for wood, we don't have any coal around here.Underneath the grate are 2 - 1" round bars, you can see the ends of them sticking out. They are mig welded to the horizontals and the verticals.
notownkid
very nice, Kind of hate to see it dirty from use! Also interested in the "ground clearance"

Chrispy
Great work Chuck. simple yet so elegant. Just a Tip for those interested in making fire grates. The gaps between the bars on the base should be only just wide enough to allow small embers and ash to drop through. If large embers can drop through the heat is sufficient to sag the metal which will eventually foul up on the ash tray. Smaller fires is also preferable.
