New Massive Anvil

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

I have recently come across a new (to me) anvil. I was wondering if anyone could give me any sort of idea of the identification of the manufacturere.

The three numbers stamped on the side are: 3..3..5

Any help would be appreciated..

425 lbs. 3 x 112 is 336, 3 x 28 is 84, + 5 lbs.

Nice find! I'm jealous, my lower back is relieved you got it instead of me.

I have owned a few like that peter wright and other unmarked . We would call them a ship writes anvil or dockyard anvil here.

the step at both bickes differentiates them from the continental anvils.

 looks like a fine anvil.

+1

A fine anvil you have there. You rarely see ones like that in good condition so they obviously had hard lives.

All the best
