Need some help identifying an anvil

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I've just gotten a new anvil, and I was hoping for some help identifying/dating it. The only marks I can read on it are a weight mark of 0-3-3. Does anyone have any ideas?

THanks!

Sean

English, a good weight for a travel anvil---I'm assuming it's marked in CWT and so 3x28 + 3 = 87 pounds

Any sign if the pritchel was drilled at a later time instead of punched when the anvil was made?  (signs of a raised area around the bottom of the hole)

There have been over 200 english anvil makers and so it would be hard to nail it down without more markings.
