PCornett
I was wondering how many ways guys had come up with to adapt the standard 1/2" bit socket on post drills to take modern larger bits. Just bought a Buffalo Forge 616 and so now it is my new project for a while.
Jim Coke
Greetings PC, Its common practice to add a Jacobs style chuck to an old post drill... All you need is the chuck and an adaptor.. Available at Graingers or most machine tool stores... It adapts a tapered chuck to 1/2 in post style... Have fun with you new tool I have several Forge on and make beautiful things.. Michael
I pulled the chuck from a trashed breast drill and had a friend with metal lathe turn what was a 7/8 shaft down to 1/2 inch to fit in the post drill chuck. You lose a little working height, though.
