stuarthesmith
I am currently trying to make a decision whether or not to buy a distant anvil sight unseen. It is a peter wright. All I know about the anvil is that it is 31 inches long, and seventeen inches high. How heavy do you guys think it is?
njanvilman
Based on Fisher sizes, about 250 lbs.
ThomasPowers
Of course Fisher and PW tend to have quite different conformations...
Black Frog
Here's a few PW's I have available to measure: 28" = 162# 29" = 192# 29.5 = 223# I just sold a 288# PW, I have the length recorded at home I believe, from memory it was right around 31". If I have it written down, I'll report back with it. But from the PW's I've played with, a 31" PW will ballpark in the upper 200# range. That depends on height and face width too of course. But that would be my guess.
SoCal Dave
A picture is worth a thousand words. Seeing is believing.
PaulKrzysz
I had a 36'' long PW, it weighed 407lbs according to the hundred weight markings. My guess is around 300lbs for that one

Black Frog
That 288# PW was 31" long. 19" x 5" face, and 13.25" height. .... That should get you close if you can get a few more dimensions on your prospective anvil. Correction to my earlier post, I mixed up a couple in my head. 28" PW = 192# 29" PW = 212# 29.5" PW = 223# 24.5" PW = 160#
stuarthesmith
I figured about 300 lbs, give or take
