firedfred
Just curious, but I'm trying to Identify this maker and date of mfr if at all possible. The anvil weighs 89 lbs. The serial number on the front is 126980. Thanks

Frank Turley
I've seen quite a few Hay-Buddens with a single number by the handling hole in the waist under the horn. Yours is the first where I've see two numbers. In any event, I never saw any other brand anvil that put numbers there. We can only guess what they were used for, perhaps inspector's marks. firedfred
That's what I thought as well. Thanks. I picked it up at a farm auction the other day. It looks a little rough but it rings nice all over.
firedfred
Any ideas as to the date of mfr?
Junksmith
Hay-budden produced anvils between 1880 and 1920 in Brooklyn, NY. That at least gives you a date range. I've got two. Love 'em!
Bent56
I just got a 120# Hay budden. It has at least 85 to 90% bounce with a ball bearing very nice anvils. It has the serial numbers on the front also.I post the hardie that came with it in tool id. Paid $480.00 for everthing.
