Frosty
Your friend's Soderfors anvil looks like a graphics representation of flat blade screws? May we see a different angle please? Linking another site's photos most often comes out badly if anything loads. Selecting the (choose files) button at the bottom of the text window, browse your comp, pick a photo file, reduce the size to a couple hundred K works well, maybe even best. There are options for sizing pics to fit before you upload. Please post a pic. Soderfors anvil pics are anvil porn to me. Frosty The Lucky. JHCC
Which photo?
George N. M.
Dear MIchael, Welcome aboard from 7500' (2286 meters) in SE Wyoming, USA. Glad to have you. I assume that you are somewhere in Eastern Europe because of the cyrillic lettering (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia). If you put your general location in your profile we can better answer your questions. Many answers are geography dependent. I assume tht you are asking about the maker or manufacturer of the anvil in question since we would have no idea who owns it today. This is probably a translation issue. No photos accompanied your posting. Besides photos information about any markings and weight would be helpful. "By hammer and hand all arts do stand." Михаил
Всего 3 шт Добрый вечер
Frosty
It was worth more before someone took a grinder to it to make it shiny. Which 3 pieces? Where I live a 294kg. Soderfors anvil and stand would be worth several thousand US$ But where I live there wasn't much call for anvils when it was settled so anvils and other blacksmithing gear is uncommon. We have to ship most of it in. That means what it is worth here doesn't mean anything where your anvil is located. Make sense? Frosty The Lucky.
Only 3 pcs 295 and 239 in their original form. 294 kg to a friend he gave it and asked to grind it))). The location is the city of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region. Yes, respectively, we are not talking about polished. It's just better to see the stigma and the top layer of rivet.
Frosty
If the owner wants to grind it it's his anvil. My preference is just that mine, it's his anvil his preference is what counts. Your friend has every right to grind or polish his anvil. Just because I wouldn't doesn't mean he is wrong to do so. I don't know if this helps but Soderfors anvils are cast in steel molds and many were then closed die forged immediately when removed from mold both proud words and or numbers showed on the finished anvil. Proud means they stand out as unlike the numbers or words that are stamped in. I LOVE my Soderfors anvil as she is, scars, chips and all. She's the best anvil I've ever used though I've used some really good anvils some only falling slightly shy of her. I'd LOVE a chance to use a 294kg. Soderfors anvil. I'd love to see if it's as hard and lively. By lively I'm referring to the character of it's rebound reaction to the hammer and how it moves metal. Frosty The Lucky.
