ThorsHammer82
you could start by getting the 9 layers of paint off of it so you might be able to find the markings.
Jakesshop
This could be the elusive semi albino anvil. Sorry, couldn't help myself on that one. Need better pics of any markings.
njanvilman
And closer views in the photo(s), Some anvils have a distinctive shape or style that will help with the ID.
ThomasPowers
South African location would indicate that an English brand would be likely
Black Frog
Style of the feet/base would point to English make as well...
kevan
I am with Stuart. The line of the foot in the shadow would tend to indicate Peter Wright. The name is under thr paint on the side opposite that which is facing the camera. Do not attack the paint too aggressively. The stampings are not that deep and can be damaged if you grind. Bob S
painting anvils is an abomination. sooner or later someone has to clean it off. better to never put it on. tru dat
Black Frog
The name is under thr paint on the side opposite that which is facing the camera. ......not normally. Logo and stamping is generally facing towards you with horn facing right. At least all the PW's, HB's, A&H's I've encountered are that way. I've seen Soderfors with the weight stamping on the opposite side (horn left).
njanvilman
I use a good quality chemical paint stripper to remove heavy layers of paint. Outdoor work with lots of throw-away clothing.
