Guest Johnnie Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Hi people, I am still looking for a tidy power hammer and found a Meitinger Rationell spring hammer. Its in Germany and they are looking for 2100euros plus VAT. 25 kg hammer weight. Or I have found a Beaudrys Peerless hammer for 2500 euros. It looks a lot smaller than the Beaudrys no. 7, no answer on email yet. Any ideas on the two? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, John. Quote
Lamey Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 if condition is even close to the same I would buy the Peerless. The largest size they made was a 200, and as you probably know it is configured different then the Champion in both frame/anvil style, as well as linkage etc. If you do buy it please post photos, they are rare hammers indeed. basher Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 the old adage is that the hammer you have is better than the one you do not. I would amend this to ...the hammer you can set up and use easily and transport easily is easier to get going than the taller heavier and much more capable looking hammer..... I have not used either of those hammers . but my observation would be that the metinger hammer seems so similar to all the french hammers that cost around 600 to 1000 euro ie tyro and companion..... the beaudry is a well rated hammer and one I would certainly like to own / try one day. they are very different beasties do you have the option of trying them out ? Guest Johnnie Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 No such luck Bash. Germany is nine hours drive for the Metinger and the Beaudry is six hours in France. Told Beaudrys fella I could collect but still no reply on email. Delivery to France from Germany is only 150 euros. Been looking daily on leboncon but everything is well over the 1000 mark. I would rather own the Beaudry but think she will need lots of TLC!! Quote
