DKForge
Here is my latest bowl. I made one with leaves breaking out through the bottom a month ago and I liked the way the organic element played with the steel bowl. I decided to try that again with a little different element. This time a feather.laying indented into a bowl made from stainless. I suppose almost like a nest with a lost feather. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance. Frosty
Sweet, I like it. Are you going to do more with the theme? I see plenty of potential in several general directions within the theme. Frosty The Lucky.
DKForge
Thanks Frosty yes I plan on continuing to build on this theme. I have been looking for something to develop a niche around for a while and I think this ties in two items I enjoy making, vessels, and organic items. Frosty
Thanks Frosty yes I plan on continuing to build on this theme. I have been looking for something to develop a niche around for a while and I think this ties in two items I enjoy making, vessels, and organic items. I just calls em as I sees em you know. I find it can be really stunting to try finding a niche to work in. Make your works and let the niche find you. Art isn't so much what we see when we make it, as it is what people see when they view it, use it, touch, smell, eat it. Whatever. One thing I saw with your latest piece was the nest. A little texturing on the rim of the bowl to suggest twigs, etc. and maybe some small feathers as well. I'll bet dollars to donuts a couple polished stone eggs would end up in it in no time. How about a smaller diameter but deeper bowl with some hand made feather pens? Wouldn't that look GRAND on some executives desk? Sure it'd be really expensive but that's the other thing we sell as artist blacksmiths, bragging rights. Who wants to brag about how cheap something was? Expensive art gets brags about the price AND the art. Make your art, let the niche find you. It will, your work is worthy of it's own niche. Frosty The Lucky.
