Richard P
Hello, Just brought first anvil after using Ian Lowe's at the forge here at Stepney City Farm. I'm hoping some one tell me the maker of it. Busted the lead for my camara but will post photos soon. It's a London Pattern, 2CWT/102kgs, 26"/660mm overall length, 12"/300mm High, and the face is 41/2"/120mm wide. Stamped on the side appear to be 2 part of 2 words "RIFF" "RRAN" or so the appear to me. Not much to go on but any Ideas??
Frosty
Welcome aboard Richard, glad to have you. If you'll put your general location in your header you may be happily surprised at how many IFI members live within visiting distance. Pics, we need pics, or maybe just I need pics but I have no clue to what make your anvil is. Okay, I should say RIFF RRAN isn't clue enough for my limited self. Of course RIFF RRAN does provide a wondrous array of straight lines for a joker like myself to play with. I'll give you a break for a brief time though. <expectant grin> On a serious note you should be looking into the local blacksmithing club. You'll learn more in an hour with an experienced smith than days, weeks or even months trying to figure it out yourself. Frosty The Lucky. Richard P
Yes, must get a new cable tomorrow. I am lucky to lean from Ian Lowe, he has travelled all over Europe, Australia & US to meet and work with lots of Master Blacksmiths. I have been learning blacksmithing for about 18 months now and will post some pictures of work soon. jeremy k
It's more than likely an "E. GRIFFITHS WARRANTED" anvil
