Brad L
Here is the latest one off my bench. My biggest to date 21" overall length. 5160 blade, mild steel guard, cotton cord wrapped handle soaked in epoxy. I was not sure about the handle it looks different but it sure feels good in the hand and it seams tough. This is not a presentation piece but a big ugly rough use knife. As always comments positive or negative are welcome. Brad
bigfootnampa
I can see the big and rough use here but Brad... I think this is a FAIL on the ugly part! It looks pretty nice to me!

Maillemaker
What are those faint white lines on the blade in the first photo?
Brad L
What are those faint white lines on the blade in the first photo? The etch. I was playing around with etching the blade a number of times to try and create a patina that would hide marks from use. These lines came out and they grew on me so I left them. I woulde like a closer look where the tsuba joins the blade :) I like what I see so far Sure no problem, I hope this is what you meant. Jon Smith
You, sir, are a liar. There's nothing ugly about that piece at all.
Zengineer
Quote This is not a presentation piece but a big ugly rough use knife. Heh, I think it looks xxxx good and would consider retracting the above statement.
Brad L
Thanks for the comments. I did not figure many would approve of my redneck take on Japanese knives.:)
jmccustomknives
LOL! :o and I thought we in the south had the market cornered on Rednecks! Very clean for a rednecked blade.
EtownAndrew
I like it! However, I think you have passed the point of calling it a knife. I thing this is definitely in the small sword category. You got wonderful fit between the guard and blade. I am envious. Also I like the cord wrapped handle that is one to put in the idea box. Stormcrow
I like Japanese blades, and I like it when a maker does a good job of goosing the traditional take on 'em. :)
Kwisatz
I really like that. I wrapped the handle on one of my knives with rope as well. i am going to add shellac.
