Maillemaker
I've been away at school for a month and a half, and finally came home to heat some iron. Wasn't at it for more than a couple hours when this pretty thing popped out of the forge! Blade is 5160 left normalized, handles are elm with copper ferrules. bigfootnampa
Looks NICE! Now get yourself a shaving horse and you are in business! I see that you turned the handles for the Lil Drawknife... you'll like the carved versions even better!
Matthew Paul
From what I can see in the pictures, I like it!
Thorsrevenge
what kind of edge did you put on it? I have seen several that have little to no bevel on the back and a rounded bevel on the front. Then I have seen some that are edged like most small knives. Whats your opinion on which would work best?
ThomasPowers
FOr what? The best for some jobs is the lousy for others and vice versa! In general for drawknives the back is flat and the face is beveled and sometimes you turn it over to use it the other way. I've owned dozens and never recall a rounded face
DSW
Nice. I'll have to put one on my "to do" list when I have a chance.
Rich Hale
I have a very old one somewhere..seems tp be heat treated really well as even though I have only used it minimal to shave down hickory hammer handles It has never needed sharpening... Loneforge
I heat treated mine and it has held up well. Let us know how the Normalized blade holds up.
