HammerDown
Nice work!!! What thickness of the copper did you use?
yesteryearforge
Hammerdown All the recent copper items started out as 3/8 or 1/2 inch thick flat bar X 2 1/2 and 3 inches wide. Hand hammered out to about 3/16 or 1/8 thick
bigfootnampa
It's nice Mike! I would like it better though, I think, if the rivet head was flatter or maybe even fitted into a bob punched depression so that the bowl interior seemed smoother. Probably no real practical difference but I think the look would be improved.
Farmall
Mike, where do you get copper bar like that? Both this one and the other piece are really nice...
yesteryearforge
Farmall Thanks I got a bunch of stuff made like those pieces. I machined a lot of Buss bars for Dominion Virginia Power and had some drops left over. Could not see selling the copper for scrap when I could make things out of it
windancer
Good decision, YYF this is a very nice AND practical piece. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Farmall
Great idea. I want to make some copper ware like a cup or pot, but don't know where to get the copper other than using copper sheet used for roofing.
yesteryearforge
McMaster-Carr sells copper in small size sheets in a bunch of different thickneses 12 X 12 .and other sizes I use that for copper skillets / ladles and such
