AJAX
Hey, This sword was given to me by my grandfather, supposedly it was taken on Iwo Jima. I don't know where it is originally from but when I removed the bamboo peg to see the tang, all a could see was file marks, no characters or anything. I'm pretty sure Its not one of those standard issue swords, but I'd still like to know the origin if at all possible. Thanks for any help. on a different note, does anyone know how to re-size pictures?

Steve Sells
File marks ARE the maker marks for some blades, show them too please.
AJAX
Steve, I will attach a picture of the tang. This camera can't pick up the file marks that well because it is so bad so i will also attach a drawing i made that shows the rough pattern of the file marks. also, It came with a leather cover for the handle. that's all torn up though

adambieber
I know this is an old post but it looks like an NCO sword from WW2, NCO is non commissioned officer. Think sergeant, corporal, sgt major etc.
Steve Shimanek
NCO swords generally had the metal handles…..my internet is not great here so the pics don't d/l…. can't add any more at the moment.
