Don A
I just got word that Vance Baker had passed away a couple days ago. He was a blacksmith who lived in Athens, Tennessee. I figured some of you might have met him over the years. He taught regularly at John C. Campbell Folk School. I only got to work with him a couple times, but he was a good one. browe
Don a Did you get to ride in his "hillbilly Humvee"? I had the pleasure of taking a tinsmith class at J.C. Campbell with him in the class. What a great caricature he was. BRowe
Don A
BRowe, I never got to ride in it, but the last time I saw him I was loading one of his old anvils onto the tailgate for him. We had used it for years as a loaner at Ft. Loudoun. We got a replacement and returned it to him. We were having a little off-day clean up and work day, and Vance was able to join us for a while. I sure wish I'd spent more time in the shop with him. Don
