Jack Cal
Glenn, Thanks for the dedicated forum. As a general "non- joiner" and even though I haven't been a very active member of NJBA- I would recommend the group to anyone in the region. I attended a anvil repair workshop a couple years ago and found everyone helpful and supportive. Jack Callahan

Rockface
Hi all, Name's Chaz, new to the trade. I saw there was a workshop at Walnford a while back. I'm over in Yardville, just the other side of Crosswicks, so I guess I'm not so far away. Metalwork has always been a fascination of mine. I've been looking forward to diving in head first, so to speak, for a while now. Currently - and mind you, I'm extremely new at this - I've been doing a lot of reading, and probably will be buying my first anvil and a bunch of tools second hand next weekend. Any advice for a guy just starting out? This is going to be more of a hobby/obsession for me than a profession, but who knows where it will take me. My background is organic chemistry, so heading into inorganic should be a blast. Cheers.
Frosty
Welcome aboard Chaz and all you NJ guys, glad to have you. It really helps if you put your general location in your header, you might be pleasantly surprised at how many of the IFI gang live within visiting distance. AND we won't have to keep bugging you. Get with a local organization, the one in who's section you're signed up in might be THE one. <grin> Networking with smiths will put you in touch with equipment and tools AND every hour you spend with an experienced smith will save you days, maybe weeks of teaching yourself. Frosty The Lucky.
