w5rjh
Hello I inherited this anvil from my paw paw because when I was a little tot I used to flatten pennies or what ever I could find on it. It has southern 10 on it. Any help would be appreciated as to where it was made the company and such. thanks

Fatfudd
To be honest its nearly impossible to see anything in your photos. Southern Crescent made some cast iron anvils with steel tops similar to Vulcans but they usually had a poor quality stamping on the side. Its possible that your anvil is one of the many made by small forges that just are no longer remembered. If you could take some better quality pictures showing the underside of the base, under the horn., both sides of the anvil and a picture of some distance so we could see the anvil as a whole without having to scroll across the screen? Try so size them down some and don't do any photo corrections, that just makes the pics grainy. That might give us some more clues.
ThomasPowers
The low cutting step is very reminiscent of the Vulcan/Vulcan clones. As mentioned the pics are very lick what I see when I close my eyes. So what's the ring like? My *guess is that it will make a good "suburbia anvil" as it will go thwack instead of *TING!*---if it does have a steel plate.
neg
I have the same anvil. I don't know anything about it that wasn't already said. Cast iron with a steel top, etc. Is "Southern 10" the model name or what? Anyone know the brand?
BM454
Looks like a Southern Crescent. They were made in Chattanooga Tennessee. It may not be one but, it does look like one and having southern on it, it's a good chance that's the case. Scott
