gaalamosmithing Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I have a old anvil that my goal of the week is to identify i took detailed photos to post and know the anvil is around 200 years old at least. i can make out some writing including England, and patent also hole is repeated multiple times the numbers 0 3 5 are on it which i assume to be weight measured in hundredths weight because it was made in england. but weirdest of all there is a picture of some type of animal on the side. Link to photoshttp://imgur.com/a/7Kiac#0 Any information is very appreciated Tim Quote
CurlyGeorge Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 LOL. The critter on the side is a mouse. The anvil is an Armitage Mouse Hole anvil. :D Quote
ThomasPowers Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 And it's more like 100 years old rather than 200 as the presence of the pritchel hole, the style of the stampings and the England make it one of the more recent versions than one of the earlier versions. Quote

Holzkohle Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 According to Mr Postman's "Mousehole Forge", it was made ca 19ll. Quote
