Jim Vee Posted December 23, 2011 Share Posted December 23, 2011 hi all, my names james, im startin to make a forge and im trying to gain as much info as i can on blacksmithing so as to help me build my forge. im glad i stumbled by this site, very informative, best site ive found so far. i was wondering tho if there is a forum where i can read the terminology used for this craft as often i find what i think i knew i actually know only a little. i think knowing some of the terms would help me understand and use this site much better. thanx everyone. and nice to meet you all. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Jim, I think there is a thread on blacksmith terms here but I'm not sure just where it is, probably if you will just do a seach on the subject you can turn something up...or maybe there will be another that knows just where to go that will help you our. If you would update your profile and give your location we could most likely hook you up with a member that is close by. IFI is in 50 different countries and we number in the thousands in membership...today the blacksmith community, tomorrow THE WORLD!! --insert evil laugh here--- Good to have you here and enjoy your stay! Hi Jim Welcome to the site, terminology is critical in this craft, http://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/18783-an-introduction-to-blacksmiths-tools/ will show you the tools we use, and what they are called, (Pinned in tools section of this forum) other sections also have specific knowledge in different areas of the craft, If you can't find what you want by using the search facility, ask and you will get a response.
