2ball_thepriest
Can you use a hot slitting chisel to make the cut in the sword guard? If you can't what type are you suppose to use?
Rich Hale
Of course you can hot slit it,,And if you have alot of skill with that you can drift the hole to a real close fit and finish with files. I do not know of anyone that does those that way...You could also drill a line of holes smaller than the finished slot needs to be and file to fit...Or you could use a mill,,or you could have it laser cut or water jet cut. You really need a good book to work as a shop guide for this project as it requires a lot of skill and experience to fashion a sord and fit it properly. I always recommend that a new person to smithing spend a couple of years learning forging and metal work. then if blades call you a couple of years on knives...that time will allow you to follow your dreams where ever they take you. Without basics it is like entering a long distance car race without a motor.
