DennisG
My youngest daughter graduated HS this past monday. I have had topics about us doing things together before. I wanted to get her an anvil for grad, my wife thought that it would not be something she would really want. Well being as stubborn as cold steel I asked Andie if she would like an anvil for her grad present. I think her words were "OH MY GOD YES!" "I'd love to have one!". Not being too thick I took it as a yes. A friend and fellow Blacksmith had a euopean style cast 110 lbs anvil for sale I could get for 100$. Deal. Andie was very please when I told her what she was going to get for a grad present. Yesterday we went to pick up her anvil. My friend asked the night before what Andies fav color was and had a bow put on it. She was a very excited kid on the way there, while there, on the way back to the shop and even today when she called me twice to come over to use him (Edgar her anvil). So, my kid, has an anvil of her own. She not only can lift it but she carried it from my friends shop to the truck some 75ft away. That smile was on her face for most of the 2 - 3 hrs we were there getting her anvil. I know that over time Blacksmiths get anvils and some become a favorite until an new one comes along and such. I think that this first one for Andie will travel with her until one day her first graduating child needs a grad present.

Judson Yaggy
That's great Dennis, my parents gave me an anvil for my high-school grad as well. Of course that was 17 years ago but I had many happy hours pounding away on it and now I'm almost making a reasonable living working steel! By the way what's the tool with the cast iron frame off to the left in the last photo?
Frosty
Congratulations Andie! You have my admiration and sincere respect as a Father Dennis, well done! You're both more than welcome as guests here any time, heck I'll adopt any young lady who's packing her own anvil! To be honest I'll pay good money to see the video of TSA arguing with a beautiful young lady with an anvil as carrying on luggage for the flight. Frosty the Lucky.
