MG-42
I was able to obtain some colbalt round stock tonight and wanted to know if it can be forged. Thanks
Nakedanvil - Grant Sarver
Yes it can be forged and it's the only thing I know of that can be pattern welded with titanium.
MG-42
Can it also be pattern with steel?
ThomasPowers
Is this pure cobalt or a cobalt alloy?

Now that's what I call some esoteric smithin' knowledge! I'd love to hear how that question came up the first time.

MG-42
Is this pure cobalt or a cobalt alloy? It is 1/2" round stock for high speed motors. The gent that I obtain them from use to make such motors. It came in 3 to 4' lengths. Prior to any serious work with it I will have it tested for specs. Rich Hale
Google thinks of it as a carcinogen..I would find out how that happens before I did much with it.
