alexk Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I live in Houston. I am currently looking for a 50-80 LB anvil of good quality. It does not need to be great, just standard and won't fall apart after use. I will use it for blade smithing and other simple tasks. I would prefer something in the area, so I ca avoid $50-75 shipping, but that's not essential. Especially if the shipping is free! Thanks for input, Alex Quote

ThomasPowers Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 My favorite suggestion is a chunk of fork lift tine mounted vertically in a 5 gallon bucket of concrete. Call around the repair shops and tell them what you want it for as they don't want the liability of someone trying to reuse a bunged up tine as a forklift tine. They may be happy to sell you one at scrap rate. Often we get folks who then point out that it doesn't have a horn. I just finsihed a run of tent stakes on an anvil without a horn, had no problem bending the hook ends on them without one! Quote
