I Forge Iron

Rings

Recommended Posts

A little bit of new work. I've never done rings before, but decided to give it a shot after I was asked if I could.

They are all from either 1/8" or 3/16" round. I used a coal forge- And had to keep a CLOSE eye on things to avoid burning these up! I had a couple of little mishaps along the way. If I were to start making a lot of these, I think I'd use a gas forge ;)

The finish is soy-based wax. I think that I am going to try polishing a few up, too. And, perhaps some stainless as well.

Very nice work.

I like the small, tedious pieces.

I think the attention to detail in the tiny stuff helps me a lot when I move to larger work.

The old "brass brush at a black heat" will give those an interesting effect as well.
